Today is a little known, obscure holiday called SWEETEST DAY. It takes place on the third Saturday of October each year, WITHOUT much fanfare (Lol!!) My understanding of it is that it's broader than Valentine's Day and not necessarily as ROMANTIC, but that it's more GENERALIZED. (In other words, it's not just for spouses or sweethearts but you can wish your MOM "Happy Sweetest Day," your SISTERS, and so on.)
MOST folks have never HEARD of "Sweetest Day" and ditto for most FLORISTS, even!! It's hard to find a GREETING CARD commemorating it, but it's LEGIT.....hence this Public Service Announcement. I urge everyone reading this blog today to take advantage of this little-known opportunity to express love and appreciate to those who you love and appreciate!!

Sweetest Day is a holiday that is celebrated in the Midwestern United States, and parts of the Northeastern United States, also in the northern part of Florida on the third Saturday in October.[1] It is a day to share romantic deeds or expressions, and acts of charity and kindness.[2] 10 states and parts of two states observe Sweetest Day: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and areas of both New York and Pennsylvania west of the spine of the Appalachian Mountains.[citation needed] Sweetest Day has also been referred to as a "Hallmark holiday" or a "concocted promotion" created by the candy industry solely to increase sales of sweets.[3]
