"O LOVER WITH ETERNAL LOVE / O LAVISHER OF LOVE DIVINE"

O Lover with Eternal Love,
too often I have strayed
from You, the One Who saved my soul
to creatures You have made.

My sins, my sins they hinder me
from loving as I ought
The One Who gave His blood for them
and me, from judgment brought!

O Lover with Eternal Love
Yes, Lover of my soul
forgive the things my heart still does
make Christlikeness my goal!

I long to love You PERFECTLY
the way that You love me
In Heaven, where Your Face I'll see
From sin I'll be set free!

/ O Lavisher of Love Divine
and ravisher of hearts
Forgive me, that this soul of mine
so soon forgets...departs

O Savior of my sinning soul
Sometimes I have the words
but lack the love, and act as if
I've never seen or heard

My Jesus, Author, Finisher
one day I'll be brought Home
and I'll forget the way things were
in this prayer-poem!
