"My Reading and WRITING Goals For 2021"

 Lord Willing, if Jesus doesn't return and He allows me to live through the coming year, I have these goals of books to read and possibly write.

"It's more blessed to give than to receive, and to WRITE than to READ" I mused once!! But, even so, I'll talk about what I intend to READ first....

     READING: In my devotional reading, OF COURSE "Morning and Evening" will continue, but the BIG surprise is the devotional book ABOVE. I used it for the first time in 2020, and it is SUPERB. There were 19 daily readings which ESPECIALLY strengthened my MARRIAGE....they are March 7th, April 1st, 3rd and 8th, May 2nd, 8th and 14th, June 9th, July 11th, 16th, 27th and 31st, Sept. 8th and 27th, Oct. 1st, 5th and 22nd and Dec. 12th and 23rd.  

Men, there are devotional books I would HARDLY recommend but this one I HEARTILY recommend. Try it!! It is VERY practical regarding the struggles we men face in this day and age, and it brings SCRIPTURE to bear on these very relevant issues.

Additionally, I am continuing to work through Pastor Martin's "Pastoral Theology" Vol. 3, my wife bought me that HUGE "Stan Lee Story" book for Christmas which I've begun to read, and within a month that new Pastor Martin Tribute book and the new Cicely Tyson Bio come out!! I've pre-ordered the last two, I'll be reading both with special interest because MY books about those two clearly inspired the NEW two.

And I'm sure that, if God spares me there'll be many OTHER books I'll read in 2021, also. Those six are just "for certain."

     WRITING: I VideoChatted with my longtime, faithful editor Martha Ireland last night and we discussed what books I might try to write in 2021 after a very productive year of doing FIVE (actually FOUR....I pulled the plug on one) in 2020.  And I'm sharing this NOT because the world is waiting with anticipation (Lol), but because it helps ME to keep things straight in MY head!! Okay, here we go. Possible book projects...

1.) My autobiography, mostly for the benefit of my kids / grandkids when I'm gone. The "Legacy of my Testimony."

2.) FICTION, for once... haven't written fiction in (literally) 50 years!!

3.) Move my Pastor Martin Tribute book from Blurb to Amazon, as well as promote the AUDIO version  of that book which Tom Sullivan is working on professionally (about 1/3rd done).

4.) Possibly add new material to my "Winning Catholics to Christ" book IF Biden does indeed become the second Roman Catholic President and in consideration of Roman Catholic Amy Coney Barrett being added to the the SCOTUS recently. Pastor Frank Espinal has said he will translate that entire book into Spanish for me this year (Frank translated my last 3 TRACTS into Spanish in 2020, and did a great job)!!

5.) A new book of POEMS?? (First I've self-published in 10 years, if it happens).

     MISC. PROJECTS AND OUTLETS: As far as my FACEBOOK output, this blog and my TRACTS, I forsee no real changes to my output in 2021. For an announcement about my MEMES, see my earlier post from today (right below THIS).

I will continue to contribute art to my local paper as long as they will have me and was very happy with the two kids books I was asked to illustrate in 2020 (SMALL scale stuff. Hopefully, it will lead to LARGER). I will continue to write Letters to the Editor, of papers large and small, when inspired to do so.

All of this is.....LORD WILLING!! And HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!

The New York Post urged President Trump to GIVE UP his election challenge and CONCEDE yesterday. I quickly wrote in to protest!! As of today, my letter has NOT been printed but I'm reproducing it here in my blog, thankful that seven OTHER letters of protest WERE printed today!!

"Editor,

"Regarding your piece urging the President to "Stop The Insanity" and give up legal and Constitutional efforts to stop a stolen election:

"First, you failed to point out the dozens of ways it can be proven, to reasonable unbiased people, that there was theft on an unprecedented scale. Last I've heard, polling shows that about half of the nation sees that clearly, and they want the President to fight on. 

"Secondly, you seem to be saying that unless Trump gives up the fight now, the Republicans will lose the Senate seats in Georgia's Jan. 5th runoff. You have no way of knowing that, for all you know his continued fight may be inspiring Republicans to get out and vote despite the fact that they know there was election theft in November. His projected fight on January 6th may actually help things on January 5th by increasing Republican turnout!

"Third, as I see it, the real definition of Insanity is not fighting tooth and nail, as hard as you can for as LONG as you can, against cheaters and liars. 

"Fourth, you accuse Trump of "cheering for an "undemocratic coup" when that is exactly what he is trying to prevent. 

"And lastly, "Save your legacy," you tell him? His concern should be to save the COUNTRY, first and foremost. It is understood that you think the best way he can save the country is to support the Senate candidates, but if Georgia steals the runoff election just like they stole the November one, then what?

"How Did He Stand?" (A poem about Washington crossing the Delaware on Christmas night)

 

Five years ago when my first wife learned she was terminally ill, she wanted to visit "nearby" Titusville NJ to see where Washington crossed the Delaware (they re-enact it every year on Christmas Day). I was disappointed that the weather was freakily SPRINGLIKE that day because I wanted to see what Washington experienced that freezing night!!  However, studying this famous painting helped me imagine myself as BEING IN THE BOAT, WATCHING WASHINGTON and I wrote this poem (using POETIC license, just like the painter employed ARTISTIC license). The poem is really about what constitutes true leadership and courage, as I see it. Enjoy!!

How does he stand, while others row

(activity to make blood flow) this freezing night?

He's in command, he leads our way

a statue, standing ...(frozen)?

Unmoved, and bound to what he's planned; 

this sneak attack he's chosen,

this sneak attack he's chosen.

This river's cold, and might it be

we're crossing icy Jordan?

He stands alone and helps us see

"Merry Christmas"

 Ironically, my daily devotional reading this morning had me in Luke 24, where Jesus rose from the dead AFTER He was cruelly slain. It was by His death that he saved His people from our sins, and while it’s true that He had to be born into this world in ORDER to die for believers, His Incarnation was only a means to that triumphant end...it wasn’t the end, itself. This is why, I’m sure, that Scripture never tells us to remember His birth (though it doesn’t say we CANT celebrate it) but it urges us to remember His DEATH till He comes....and to dwell on the fact that He IS risen!! God raised him from the dead because His Sacrifice on our behalf WAS acceptable to Him....Glory to God!!

Too many always see Jesus as “Baby Jesus,” a helpless Babe who never grew up to rebuke sin and point the way to salvation. Or, they leave Him, as an adult, ON that cruel cross where, again, He was helpless though a great, moral teacher and example.

Jesus is MORE than that.....Jesus is GOD IN THE FLESH and the biggest proof of that is not His Incarnation (though His Immaculate Conception IS amazing), nor is it His CRUCIFIXION. It’s the fact that He ROSE FROM THE DEAD and will return again, in Glory, to judge the living and the dead!! HE SITS AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD THIS MORNING!!

And every knee.....will one day bow

Tell me please, why not do it NOW??

"Was Rush Saying 'Goodbye for Good' Today?"

I only caught about 25 minutes of the beginning, and about 5 minutes of the END, of Rush Limbaugh's radio show today. But it sure sounded to me like he was saying Goodbye for Good.

Rush referenced Lou Gehrig's farewell speech, and said that he now understood how Lou felt (in his final appearance on the field at Yankee Stadium, when he said he was "the luckiest man on the face of the earth" though he was dying). Rush mentioned that his doctors didn't expect him to live THIS long but because he's exceeded their predictions, he's had the privilege of "hearing his own eulogies" and knowing how much he's loved. He sounded choked up at times, he reflected on his beginnings in the radio business on several occasions and thanked his audience for their support over the past 32 years MANY times....and all of this was only in the 30 or so minutes that I heard!!

I was very encouraged when Rush said something like his signature description of himself, "Talent on Loan From God," means more to him now than it ever did. There have been OTHER hopeful indications that Rush, who will be 70 on January 12th (Lord Willing), is now READY to meet the Lord when his soul is required of him, this is just a new one. WE HOPE, of course, that he IS saved and that we WILL hear Rush's voice "live" again on our radios. Hey, he USUALLY goes on vacation from around Christmas until the New Year, right?? So maybe he's just going on vacay and coming BACK.. Part of us hopes that what we fear is happening ISN'T happening, but the REALISTIC part faces the facts as Rush himself wants us to. I certainly hope he will live long enough AT LEAST to see Trump prevail and get a second term via his election fraud challenges (Trump HIMSELF hinted that he might YET be re-inaugurated, in a speech last night). But, it's all in God's Hands right now...the important thing is that Rush is READY...sins forgiven...trusting the merit and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ ALONE.

50 years ago right about now, George Harrison, after the Beatles' breakup, released his solo album "All Things Must Pass." The title song seemed to be intended to comfort those who were mourning the demise of the Fab Four, who broke up earlier that year. There is a lot of truth in that song's lyrics, all things MUST pass, none of life's strings CAN last, as I learned the next month when my Uncle Steve died suddenly at age 29. Rush Limbaugh has presently lived 40 years longer than my Uncle Steve, and he, and his beloved "EIB microphone," must pass ALSO.

I hope it's not SOON for Rush, but today sure sounded like "Goodbye for Good" to this sad listener.

"American Media REALLY Playing Up Joe Biden's 'Faith'.....WHY??"

 I've heard or read it more than once recently..."Joe Biden is our SECOND Roman Catholic President, the first was JFK." Well, first of all BIDEN IS NOT YET OUR PRESIDENT...until he is Inaugurated a month and a day from now, DONALD TRUMP is our President, and millions are still hoping and praying that Trump can negate the results of this STOLEN election.  But beyond that, why is the Liberal mainstream media suddenly TOUTING this "man of faith," President-ELECT (not "President" yet) Joe Biden??

Well it's NOT because THEY are suddenly "pro-God"!!

Yes, 60 years after JFK was elected in 1960 a SECOND Roman Catholic has APPARENTLY been elected for only the second time in America's history. (Interesting that BOTH are credibly accused of CHEATING, the difference is that Nixon did not contest Kennedy's theft * but Trump IS contesting BIDEN'S thievery).

Fact: America is FAR less religious here in 2020 than it was in 1960, when millions of Protestants were alarmed at the very POSSIBILITY of a Roman Catholic President because many were able to discern the theological errors and political BENT of Rome.  Most Protestants are NOT able to do so today.

So WHY is the godless, Liberal American media REALLY playing up Biden's Roman Catholic faith?? Here are my opinions...

   1.) Biden was (supposedly) elected as a Catholic while the most RADICAL Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic church is reigning.  That's him up above, Pope Francis. If you check my blog for 10-22 of this year, "The Francis / Biden Connection," maybe you'll see even MORE why this concerns me but my point is that Biden can now push ALL kinds of immorality if he DOES become President...and he can do it backed by the POPE. (If Kennedy pushed LGBTQ rights in 1960, for example, the Pope THEN would have REBUKED him. Biden would have NO such concern and THAT is why the Lib Mainstream Media is eager to portray him as a good Catholic suddenly).

     2.) By playing up Biden's Catholicism, it ties him to the VERY popular John F. Kennedy.

Biden is neither popular nor charismatic. Those who DID legitimately vote for him did so out of hatred for TRUMP or hopes that he'll get elected then have to resign in office so that a woman of color, HARRIS, could become President.

The media is HAPPY to tie him to JFK by emphasizing their mutual Catholicism because JFK, tragically, left office early and they hope BIDEN will, ALSO (not by assassination, though, but perhaps by his creeping Dementia or a NATURAL death. To tie him to JFK makes it like "Well, it's sad Biden couldn't finish what he started, but it's not unprecedented.")

     3.) Finally, the godless, Liberal media MAY be playing up Biden's Catholicism now because of new Supreme Court Justice AMY CONEY BARRETT. Barrett is a political Conservative who is CATHOLIC, Biden is a LIBERAL who is Roman Catholic and the media may be playing up BIDEN'S "faith" to (pardon the pun) "trump" Barrett.

I don't have time to point out, in this blog, the many ways Roman Catholicism contradicts the Bible. I did it in my book, which is available on Amazon and I'm thinking of going to a second edition in 2021 if Biden DOES become President. (2021 will be the 50th anniversary of when I first became a Catholic, before I got saved)!! But FRANKLIN GRAHAM SHOULD ALREADY KNOW all of the errors of Romanism which is ANOTHER reason I'm surprised that he seems to be anxious to treat Biden as being "in authority" NOW when he isn't yet (see my previous blog).

And if Biden DOES get Inaugurated, he WILL be in authority and the most godless Pope in recent memory will be in authority over HIM. 

And THAT is why, in my opinion, the Liberal media is suddenly playing up Biden's "faith."

* Nixon PROBABLY didn't contest JFK's cheating because HE cheated TOO. And it makes me wonder why nobody ever accused NIXON of having something to do with JFK's murder?? Supposedly he was IN Dallas on that dark day and he WAS very bitter when he lost in 1960, so he had a "revenge" motive. Maybe that's a blog on another subject, for another TIME....

"Franklin's Facebook Flip-Flop"

 On my best day, I will never be NEARLY the exemplary Christian and MAN that Franklin Graham is!!  But his public Facebook post yesterday represents Franklin's WORST day. I have used this blog in the past only to COMMEND him and his "Decision" magazine but I disagree strongly with his "decision" to post what he did appx. 24 hours ago.  And sadly, this public post of his deserves a public rebuke, so I offer the following.

To start: in case you missed it, here's what he wrote, and then I'll respond (click to enlarge)....

Looking at where I've underlined, the GIST of what Franklin is saying is that Christians should pray for all those in authority, quoting 1 Timothy 2:2-3.  And OF COURSE I agree with God's Word!! The problem is that JOE BIDEN HAS NO AUTHORITY YET.  I will concede that he is now, since Monday, OFFICIALLY the "President-Elect," yes, but that is NOT an "office," Biden has NO authority at this moment. None. President TRUMP has full authority, until Inauguration Day of next year, over a month away. Graham should be asking prayers for TRUMP right now if he wants us to follow this passage he quoted...instead, he seems to have DUMPED the President. He (Trump) isn't even mentioned. 

And there are ongoing legal challenges and political actions and options which may STILL yield Trump (a pro-life President) a second term while denying Biden (a pro-ABORTION President) from getting ANY authority if God should grant success to those efforts. Franklin's prayer, up until the very second Biden becomes President, should be that God would somehow SPARE OUR NATION, IN WRATH REMEMBER MERCY, AND PREVENT THIS EVIL, CHEATING COUPLE, BIDEN AND HARRIS, FROM TAKING OFFICE AND GAINING POWER. There is no warrant in Scripture to pray for those who oppose Scriptural principles but are NOT in authority yet!! If there IS, someone please show me. What should we pray for Biden-Harris, that there'd be a "smooth transfer of power"?? That very prayer NEGATES praying for them because it's an admission they do NOT have power yet, they do NOT have authority yet...it still has to be legally transferred to them. And we're specifically told that we should pray for those IN authority, in the passage Graham quoted.

It is REALLY SAD to see Mr. Graham then go on to urge US not to waver while HE is wavering (again, see the underlined part of his post). And note that he used the word "waiver" when he should have used the word "waver." This is a HUGE spelling error and he really should proofread, or use spellcheck, when writing a post like this. He runs a MAGAZINE, in which I've never found a mistake...couldn't he get someone to take a peek at this post BEFORE he posted it?? Doesn't he go back and RE-read what he writes, at some point?? So his Facebook post, sadly, misapplies Scripture and misapplies WORDS in his half-hearted attempt to get us to give up the fight like he has. Sad. 

And instead of urging us to pray that Biden would "not act in self-interest" and "listen to the still, small voice of God," why not just ask us to pray that he'll get SAVED?? Why beat around the bush?? Does Franklin think Joe IS saved?? The part about Jesse Helms saying Biden will work with Republicans is INCREDIBLY naive. I don't think FRANKLIN believes that, yet he wants US to.

And then, that LAST sentence. Note that Franklin closes by asking us to pray that God would direct his (Biden's) decisions....but he uses a capital "H" as if Biden is DEITY!! No, I will NOT pray for "Him" (Biden) as if he's God. Franklin Graham reads a proofreader and someone who understands the Bible, and the Constitution well enough to help him be more believable. And if you're going to pray that Biden's decisions would be guided, why not mention his DEMENTIA, that God would HALT that obvious process?? Makes me wonder...is Franklin Graham acting in HIS self-interest....is he lobbying...sucking up... to do the pastoral prayer at Biden's INAUGURATION (if that Inauguration even happens)?? Is Facebook threatening to censor his SPIRITUAL posts if he keeps supporting TRUMP?? Has Fox News, as THEY have declined, threatened to censor his commercials there like they did to Mike Lindell's BOOK?? Has he been hanging around the cowardly MITCH McCONNELL?? Hmmmm....

The part that's circled up above is a response he got that I "Liked" and agreed with. Below is my OWN comment to Franklin...

If and when Biden gets Inaugurated and is officially IN power, I will pray for him as one "in authority." I'll pray for him NOW, that he'll get SAVED, but up until the very last second, I'll pray that TRUMP will get a second term and that God would save US from Biden-Harris getting Inaugurated. In closing, we should not be surprised that Franklin Graham is deserting President Trump. In Scripture, we read that the DISCIPLES deserted JESUS the sinless Son of God and GRAHAM is a sinner and TRUMP is, TOO.

We should NOT be surprised....yet I am.

This is one of the WORST flip-flops I've ever seen....seriously!!

"I Can't Deny It Anymore.....I Am a Full-Fledged TREE-LOVER!!"

  Wow, I knew I loved TREES (as mentioned in my blog here on Oct. 12th of 2019)...I just didn't know how MUCH I loved them!! I did this DRAWING of a tree 6 years ago and I often include PARTS of trees with my BIRD drawings. Yet I almost never, like most bird artists, include FLOWERS for example. The birds are always perched in TREES.

Here's MORE evidence....

This is all "circumstantial" evidence, granted, but here's IRREFUTABLE evidence that I love trees VERY much...

Recently, I found a letter I wrote to a Bloomfield NJ paper 8 years ago when my first wife (now in Heaven) and I lived up in NORTH Jersey. A local Democrat politician up there WANTED TO CUT DOWN ALL THE TREES IN TOWN THAT WERE OVER 15 FEET TALL!! This was after Hurricane Sandy. I protested loudly. Here's my letter....

Then, of course, there's my letter from earlier THIS year, well after I moved to CENTRAL Jersey and remarried....yet I was consistent, I still spoke up to our local paper on behalf of TREES and the needless destruction of them. There's even a POEM I wrote about them, at the end of this letter!!

Yes, I'm beginning to think that the one and ONLY poem my stoic, insensitive Ironworker dad seemed to know and recite when I was a kid influenced ME about Trees!!

 

So I'm finally facing facts. I'm not a tree-HUGGER, but I am a tree-LOVER.

"Trump Plays Chess, His Opponents Play Checkers"

 

"Trump plays Chess, his opponents play Checkers." I remember a Facebook Friend commenting that under a post of mine a few weeks ago and I've given it a lot of thought. Since TEXAS unleashed their Texas-sized lawsuit, which I'm sure Trump had SOME input into (or at least KNEW about it all in advance), a few questions have haunted me. So I've looked back and asked myself

1.) When Trump had that press conference after they said he lost the election...the one where he hadn't dyed his hair, and thus looked old, worn out and defeated...did Trump STAGE that to make the Dems think he had given up...to lull them to sleep??

2.) When Sydney Powell kept saying SHE was going to "unleash the Kraken," was that a planned diversion...a DISTRACTION from what was REALLY coming?? Was the "Kraken" coming via TEXAS??

3.) Did Guiliani DELIBERATELY lose cases in the lower courts so they could get before the SCOTUS even QUICKER??

Who knows, maybe Rudy and Jenna Ellis faked COVID so that the legal "ball" could be handed off to the great TED CRUZ at the last minute??

A lot of moves in Chess have to do with STEALTH, and maybe that's what Trump planned in the first place.

At this point I don't even know if SCOTUS has the guts to take the case and if they do, whether they'll have the guts to rule FAIRLY and without FEAR.

But all I know is I think Trump is a LOT smarter than people give him credit for, and I hope and pray HE will be our President for four more years!!

"Peaceful Muslims? I Do Believe They Exist"

 

I always get a lot of grief when I mention Muslims. If I condemn Muslim terrorists, I hear that I'm "Islamophobic" or some such nonsense. And if I say I still like Cat Stevens music though he is now "Yusuf Islam," I'm gullible and deceived. Anyway, I will never stop sharing my opinions and here is something I wrote about MUHAMMAD ALI 5 years ago, 2015, before he died and before I started THIS blog....

I was not ALWAYS a fan of Cassius Clay / Muhammad Ali, but I have been since 1978 and what he did today, as the most famous Muslim in the world, has added to my admiration of him. He is RISKING HIS LIFE by speaking against "Muslim Murderers" but Ali has ALWAYS been a true man who is willing to pay the price for taking a stand, like when he received a five year jail sentence and was denied the right to box (in his prime) rather than to fight in VIETNAM....a war he did not believe in.

Here is Ali’s statement:

"I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world. True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion.

"We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda. They have alienated many from learning about Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try and force Islam on anybody.

"Speaking as someone who has never been accused of political correctness, I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's view on what Islam really is."

You may think this is a sham, you may think he's trying to FOOL us but we've been clamoring for a Muslim to CONDEMN the barbarians. and Ali has done that.

You may say that “the last paragraph condemns TRUMP” (The Drudge Report AGREES with you, if you think that), but Trump is NOT a “political leader”.....not yet, anyway.

You may say Ali is wrong, it is NOT the job of political leaders to help bring understanding of ANY religion, and I agree 100%.

But friends, we’ve been asking “Are there any PEACEFUL Muslims?” and I believe Muhammad Ali is ONE. He was peace-loving when he wouldn’t fight in ‘Nam, and this former boxing champ is peace-loving NOW.

I was won over to Ali when it looked like Leon Spinks ended his career, but he came back to BEAT him seven months later (1978). I cried when Ali got Parkinson's, but I cheered when I read this statement. I don’t see Ali as a MUSLIM, primarily....I see him as a MAN who is willing to risk everything to stand for what he believes in. And I love the guy as much as a man can love a man, and still BE a man.

I pray he’ll get SAVED from Islam one day, and have his sins forgiven through the Lord Jesus Christ.

Too bad that, at THIS point, Ali seems to stand ALONE regarding Muslims who speak out plainly, but he has proven to me that he is to Muslims what he was to other boxers.

And, to me at least, Ali proves that peaceful Muslims DO exist.

"The MSM'S Lies"

It's amazing how the Liberal Mainstream Media only reports SOME of the news!! (And yes, I now include FOX NEWS as part of the MSM...I now trust NEWSMAX, not Fox).

Yesterday, a few MSM outlets only mentioned that Trump's legal team got rebuffed by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) about the PENNSYLVANIA  case.  

However, they "forgot" to mention that Texas and 8 other states are FORCING the SCOTUS to hear their complaint against 4 states ***INCLUDING*** Pennsy!! (The states being sued are Georgia, Michigan, Pennsy and Wisconsin). Perhaps this is why SCOTUS didn't take Pennsy BY ITSELF, by the way....the TEXAS suit is already on the Docket and they know that THAT (Pennsy) case will be heard as part of a "package" in the TEXAS case.

Anyway, from the way the MSM presented it, it sounded like SCOTUS saw no credibility whatsoever with the Trump team's request....because the MSM didn't tell "the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth."

It is said that "A half truth presented as the WHOLE truth becomes an UNtruth" and that's what the MSM has done in this case....presented HALF of the truth when they gloated that "SCOTUS won't hear Trump's case in Pennsy."

This half truth / untruth is what their Liberal followers want to hear, but when SCOTUS "hears" the case, and if they have the guts to rule properly and reverse the stolen election, well, those same Liberals will be MAD AS HORNETS.

Because they're (frankly) not too bright, the Libs will be mad at TRUMP thinking that HE stole the election, not being smart enough to know that if you RECOVER what was stolen YOU'RE not the thief.....the THIEF is the thief.

I just hope SOME of the Libs' anger would be directed at their lying "friends" in the MSM, who kept them in the dark and let them believe all is well, when it wasn't.

"The Dylan / Lennon Dream"

Went to sleep last night thinking about the day's events. 79th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. 79 year old BOB DYLAN'S historical sale of his songs (see yesterday's blog). And, how my blog yesterday tied in Dylan and JOHN LENNON, who was slain 40 years ago this very day. 

All of this resulted in a strange dream...more like a NIGHTMARE, in fact. But here it is, for what it's worth.

It started with DYLAN. Crowds of people were praising him for his "smarts," the way he cashed in on his songs at the end of his life.  No one called him a "sellout," or implied that he was "only in it for the money," after all of this time. "That's because there was no HYPOCRISY in Dylan," I thought. "To my knowledge, he didn't write any songs condemning materialism or promoting Socialism. In short, he never said it would BE wrong to cash in....(or maybe 'cash OUT' is a better way to put it). No one can say the guy contradicted his own words, in other words."

I was then, in my dream, urging Dylan to GET RIGHT WITH GOD, that money couldn't save his soul. 

However, I was a lone voice. Dylan was preoccupied with those praising his business acumen.

Then, there was a sign that a silent man in the crowd held up. It had a photo of LENNON on it, but no wording, no message. 

In my head, not out loud, I began to formulate a message..."Lennon DID preach anti-materialism in his songs, he DID sing Imagine no possessions and it lead to an obsessed, mentally disturbed fan viewing him as a hypocrite and want to KILL him for it, when he learned of the WEALTH that Lennon accumulated."  (Even though this was in a dream, I'm not going to repeat the killer's NAME lest it increase his FAME but if you don't know his name, and want to know, look it up on Wiki).

"Lennon WAS a hypocrite about that, but what the assassin did was EVIL. Lennon sang IMAGINE NO POSSESSIONS and he had obscene LOADS of them!! But the greatest possession any of us have is our eternal, immortal soul."

And then, in my dream, it occurred to me. The miscreant who killed Lennon 40 years ago today was married to a Japanese woman, just like Lennon was.

He came to the States from HAWAII, where Pearl Harbor is, to stalk John. And the killer slew Lennon the day after Pearl Harbor Day via a SNEAK ATTACK..........just like Pearl Harbor.

What did it all mean?? I don't know, I don't know. Woke up, had my coffee. HOW many days till Christmas??

"Dylan's Deal"

Today it was announced that Bob Dylan, 79, sold his entire music catalog for probably over 300 million dollars.  Frankly, if the reports are accurate, that was "cheap" (more later). I just hope Dylan hasn't sold his SOUL in the process.

You see, around 40 years ago Dylan put out his album "Saved" in which he professed, very plainly, that he was a new Christian in AMAZINGLY Scriptural words.  Sadly, since then there has been precious little evidence that his profession was real, because when "persecution" started BECAUSE of his profession, he seems to have backed down. DESPITE the book that tries to spin him into being a consistent Christian, which I've read, the evidence just isn't there unless you mix in a lot of imagination (which I, myself, have done at times) as you read his subsequent lyrics.

I actually quoted some of Dylan's "Christian" lyrics in my recent John Lennon tract, which I wrote because it's 40 years tomorrow since John was slain.  Here's that tract, with Bob's lyrics....(click to enlarge)...

Bob's songs span 60 years, and IMHO 300 million is NOT a lot, believe it or not, by that standard.

A pitcher on the Yankees signed a deal for MORE than that (for only 12 years of HIS life's work) just last year!! Sure, that's outrageous but again, this is where we're at. If a baseball pitcher is worth over 300 million for 1/5th of the time that DYLAN spent writing songs, well, it's crazy but Dylan should get MORE than he did.....not that ANYONE is worth that kind of money, of course!!

You see, if Dylan, at the end of HIS life, is only concerned with MONEY and is not asking himself if HE is really "Ready" (like his 1980 lyrics ask OTHERS), well then I feel sorry for him. Jesus said "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?" Bob Dylan may not only have sold his SONGS too cheaply....more importantly, he may have sold his SOUL for far less than it's worth, as well.

He may not need MONEY anymore, but he definitely needs PRAYERS!! He's in a dangerous, dangerous place!!

"If You're Going to Celebrate Christmas, Know Why and WHAT You're Celebrating"

 MORE evidence that the celebration of Christmas has become something that many Christians do as a TRADITION, not as an act of intelligent Worship!!  A major distributor of Christian books is selling THESE Scripturally incorrect cards pictured above, and it's truly discouraging.

Jesus did NOT come to bring peace on earth, read Matthew 10:34 when HE, HIMSELF addresses the issue!! He says He's bringing a sword of division, NOT peace between man and man!! His reason for coming is clearly spelled out in Matthew 1;21, however: "HE CAME TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS." Division between men comes when Jesus saves "His people" from sin and they begin living for HIM and not "going along with the crowd." It separates friends and family, Christians are often HATED and PERSECUTED and SEPARATED from society, after Jesus separates US from SIN!! But, Christ's coming brought peace between GOD AND PEOPLE who get right with Him, if not peace between PEOPLE and people!! Many (not all) printers of Christian Christmas Cards would never put Matthew 1:21 on their cards, though, because the word "sin" is mentioned. "Sin," though a BIBLICAL word, is like a four-letter word to so many Christian outlets. Consequently, phony messages like the one above get disseminated, instead. Never mention the "S word," which is ANOTHER "Sword," mind you....talk of Peace on earth 'cause it's so........positive.

And by the way, ANY FOOL can see that we DON'T have "peace on Earth" 2000 years after Jesus came...so why would Christians buy and send such cards which make Jesus look like a failure?? Peace, Peace, when there is no Peace. "But Chet, it's a WISH for peace on earth, not a proclamation that there IS peace." Scripturally speaking, based on those two passages I mentioned, we should be wishing 1.) That many will get saved and 2.) That this will happen even though it will bring a sword of division between the sheep and the goats. I see no warrant to wish for something that Jesus said He did NOT come for, frankly.

Personally, as I've said many times, I am NOT big on Christmas and have often criticized the commercialization of it by the world system.  But CHRISTIANS are at fault, ALSO.  If you're going to celebrate Christmas, fine....know WHY and WHAT you're celebrating. We're supposed to be LIGHTS in a dark world, but if you send out unbiblical Christmas cards to you are NOT honoring Jesus or celebrating His birth for the right reason. 

Some who read this will just think I'm "anti-Christmas," but I'm not. My last blog reproduced my art from our town's newest monthly paper, where I wished everyone MERRY CHRISTMAS. The publication no longer allows COMMENTARY of a religious nature so that was all I could say, but I rejoice that even though THEY put "Happy Holidays" on the COVER, they allowed ME to say "MERRY CHRISTMAS" inside the issue. 

But what is "anti-Christmas" is to present a false reason regarding WHY we celebrate it, and to not know why or WHAT you are celebrating!!
