"My Heart's Desire For Tiger"

I'm sure that by now everyone has heard of legendary golfer Tiger Woods's serious car accident yesterday. Thank God his LIFE was spared, because he does not yet appear to be ready to stand before the Lord with sins forgiven. But, for Tiger, at THIS point in time Golfing IS his life and livelihood. He's now suffered serious LEG injuries to go with his serious BACK problems and, assuming he lives, which looks likely, he may never golf again. Very sad.

I'm hoping he DOES live, I'm hoping Tiger DOES return to Golf and eventually win his 19th Masters, fulfilling his dream and passing Jack Nicklaus for the coveted title "Greatest of All Time" ("G.O.A.T.," they call it now). I'm hoping Tiger recovers and reaches new heights in his sport but ONLY...ONLY if this crushing setback is used of God to turn his heart to SEEKING THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND, CALLING UPON HIM WHILE HE IS NEAR. 

I am not a Golf fan but I want to see Tiger saved and golfing for GOD'S glory...not his own glory. I want to see him Golfing for the GOSPEL in the sense that his achievements give him a platform to make Christ known to millions!! "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul," Jesus asked. You see, more important than ANY temporal and temporary honors any of us can receive, is to know that we're serving GOD now (not ourselves and OUR fading "glory") and that we're heading to Heaven, not Hell, when we die or when Jesus returns.

In Psalm 119:67, David, "the man after God's own heart," says "Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your Word." Sometimes God uses physical afflictions to call us to Himself or to RETURN us to Himself (if we already know Him in a saving way.) Last week (Feb. 16th blog), I wrote about Gospel singer MERRY CLAYTON who lost both of her legs in a car accident several years ago. She had not recorded a Gospel album of new songs since the mid 1990s, but SINCE the accident (and a few years of RECOVERY), Merry is coming out with a NEW Gospel album this Spring, and I can't wait!! Is HER testimony the same as King David's...was SHE "going astray" and that's why God allowed "affliction" to "call her back"?? Hmmmmmm....I don't know if it's MERRY'S testimony, she has not said, but it sure was DAVID'S testimony because he DID say it.  And if Tiger Woods winds up having HIS legs amputated because of HIS car accident, I pray that HE will be like Merry...praising God for salvation, and serving Christ any way HE can.

Tiger has to get SAVED first, and I pray for him. Through this TERRIBLE accident, Lord, may Tiger see it is better to be one of your sheep forever, rather than enjoy being the G.O.A.T. for only a few years on this earth.

Here on Washington's ACTUAL birthday, one of the NY papers printed my letter about Rush Limbaugh today.  The letter, if you read it, mentions the second and third times I visited Rush's TV show (I was in the audience on Jan. 12th and Feb. 6th, 1996, respectively). See below....

But my letter does NOT mention the FIRST time.

The FIRST time I visited Rush's TV show was Feb. 22nd, 1995...26 years ago today, Washington's Birthday.  Kind of a "Full Circle" thing, eh??

 

"Meeting Rush Limbaugh: He Was a Very Humble Man"

  When Rush Limbaugh, who died yesterday at age 70, had his TV show in the 1990s, I went from NJ to NY on three occasions to be part of his studio audience. I always went in either January or February as that was the slow season for my carpet cleaning business (my Boss, ME, would always understand, Lol)!! After all, for the REST of the year I worked six days a week, so it was nice to do "special" things in the winter when business was "dead." It was especially nice to do UPLIFTING things. (By the way, the photo above is FROM one of Rush's TV shows...more later).

The first time I attended a taping of Rush's show was on 2-22-95 and I went alone...my wife stayed home as she was Homeschooling our three kids and that type of work HAD no slow season!! The show was taped at a CBS studio in NYC and I remember waiting in a long line to get in to the studio. As Rush came past us, wearing one of his "Rush ties" that was as bright and optimistic as HE was, I was videotaping his entry with my small, hand-held 8mm camera.  As he approached me, I said how much Beth and I appreciated him and he said "Thank you, Sir." The fact that HE called me "SIR" was mind-boggling to me....I've met lots of celebs and believe me, very few treat you like you are something special!! (Note: the show did not allow camera in the STUDIO but again, we were in a hallway OUTSIDE the entry point when I met him). Rush was respectful to EVERYONE...his fans, his staff, EVERYONE he interacted with on the set that day. I was more impressed by this manifestation of good CHARACTER than I was of his obvious communication skills.

The second time I attended a taping of Rush's TV show I brought Beth (we got a babysitter) and it was Rush's 45th birthday that day, Jan. 12th, 1996. The show was, remarkably, NOT about him as I'd expected but very enjoyable, nonetheless. After the show he signed autographs and I got him to sign "See, I Told You So." He treated each one seeking an autograph with respect and again, not all celebs do that. But it was my THIRD trip, on Feb. 6th, 1996, that REALLY showed me who Rush was. You see, it was former President Ronald Reagan's 85th birthday that day...and the entire SHOW was a tribute to The Gipper!!

That was 25 years ago this month and on Feb. 6th, I posted this update on my Facebook page...

If you search "Rush Limbaugh-Tribute to Ronald Reagan Part 1" on YouTube, you can see videos of this show and that shot of Charlie and me above flashes across the screen (I'm the bearded guy). But WATCH ALL FOUR VIDEOS of Rush's tribute to Reagan, please!! Those unfamiliar with Rush often think that he was arrogant, or vain, but believe me....if he WAS, that his show on his 45th would have been a tribute to HIMSELF. And, that tribute to Reagan would never have happened (IF Rush Limbaugh was arrogant or vain). Instead, he honored ex-President REAGAN and bypassed HIMSELF (three weeks prior).

Unlike my last post, where I mentioned meeting the late Cicely Tyson, I can't PROVE many of the things I've said about meeting Rush Limbaugh. And many who don't know the REAL Rush wouldn't believe me about his humility even if I could. No matter!! In 1998, on my birthday I think it was (Feb. 12th), I called Rush's RADIO show and got on the air with Rush. This happened one other time, also and he always treated me with respect even though I don't recall saying anything really brilliant or noteworthy. Something about CLINTON, who was President then.

The Beatles once sang "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." NOT that I think this life IS the end, mind you...but the point is RUSH HONORED AN EX-PRESIDENT, RONALD REAGAN, WHEN HE WAS ALIVE AND WHEN HE DIED (2004). AND YESTERDAY, AN EX-PRESIDENT HONORED RUSH...so the honor that Rush showed REAGAN came back on HIM!! I close this blog by reminding everyone that Trump awarded Rush the Medal of Freedom when learning he was terminally ill a year ago, and yesterday he issued this tribute after his death.....

"A Summary of My Upcoming Book 'Meeting Cicely Tyson' (Including Photos That Will Be Used in the Book)"

Here is a Summary of my upcoming book (A Summary which, BTW, still has to be edited by my Editor before publication on Amazon. The REST of the short book is pretty much ready to launch*)!

Unlike many books which popped up online after the death of Cicely Tyson in January 2021, this one does not depend on her autobiography, released two days before she passed, for source material. Rather most of it was written between the years of 2002-2012 as the author had several opportunities to meet Cicely Tyson personally, face-to-face, at the School which bears her name. This gave him many positive insights into her character and enabled him to be very inspired, creatively speaking.

Mr. Jelinski had been a fan of Tyson’s for 30 years but “Meeting Cicely Tyson” in person helped him do so in a new way, and in these pages he shares what he learned about the often secretive and mysterious Tyson. He also includes info about several of her most popular movies, which meant all the more to him after he met the actor and realized “she was only playing herself in those positive roles.”

Towards the end of the book he got to “meet” her in another way, along with the rest of the world. Tyson’s autobiography “Just as I Am” was troubling to him on some levels, but “Meeting Cicely Tyson” ends on a positive note as he asserts that he expects to meet “Mother Tyson” again, in Heaven one day in the Place where there shall be no more partings.

Now, here are the black-and-white photos that will be used INSIDE the book.

The book will be dedicated to my deceased first wife, BETH, who first encouraged me to meet Tyson and who accompanied me to her School almost every time I went!

"Thoughts on Presidents Day"

I’m old enough to recall when America celebrated LINCOLN’S birthday on February 12th and WASHINGTON’s on the 22nd. I especially liked ABE’S because I got off from school on my BD that way!! Even in the Newark, NJ School System, BOTH of those Presidents were heralded for their HONESTY....George for his “I cannot tell a lie, it was I”(who chopped down the Cherry tree) and “Honest Abe” for his, well, HONESTY!!

Then, they combined BOTH holidays into ONE and called it “Presidents Day.” Eventually, it was NO LONGER just about those two Presidents, but it somehow became about ALL Presidents, good or bad, memorable or forgettable, honest or dishonest. At first, “Presidents Day” seemed like a good idea as it guaranteed workers a three day weekend. Now, though, we suffer from Presidential Overload and the virtues of honesty and integrity are diluted more and more and more. NIXON, CLINTON and OBAMA are celebrated by some today, while others of us recall with fondness REAGAN and TRUMP.

Washington is being remembered mostly for owning slaves and LINCOLN is known for FREEING them. The virtues of Honesty and Truthfulness are no longer what defines these men, in the eyes of many. It’s their relationship to the sins of SLAVERY which defines them now.

Eventually, if we keep going the way we are, the memories of our Presidents won’t just get diluted, they’ll get DELETED and “Presidents Day” will be one big, meaningless glob of NOTHING....subsumed, perhaps by Black History Month, Obama and Kamala...even though neither were even BORN in February.

Let’s go back to celebrating Abe (on the 12th), and George (on the 22nd) and maybe add in REAGAN, who was born on Feb. 6th, 110 years ago!! Because “Presidents Day,” as it is NOW, while pretending to be all-inclusive, is just dividing us MORE and Presidential Honesty is being lost year by year. Look at BIDEN.....does HE deserve to be celebrated with Lincoln and Washington??

I rest my case.

 My 66th birthday was yesterday!! We are actually celebrating it tonight or tm'w afternoon, not sure. Anyway, yesterday on Facebook I created a MEME regarding ABE LINCOLN, whose birthday I was born on. That's the meme, above.

The day BEFORE that, I'd created THREE memes, of favorite Scripture verses (using the YouVersion Bible App). I combined those three memes into a COLLAGE on Facebook. The three Scriptures I've chosen emphasize how GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING ABOUT US and is with us from BEFORE the cradle and BEYOND the grave (if we are Christians)!!

Note: if you leave this life WITHOUT knowing the Lord, He will NOT "be with you beyond the grave." Please, consider your path and turn to Him while there's time!!

Lastly, as a joke, I posted a pic of CHET LEMON, who was born on the same day, month and year as I was so HE was turning 66 yesterday ALSO.

By the way, the Trumped-Up Trial against Trump is going GREAT, his lawyers DECIMATED the Dems!! I expect ANOTHER acquittal!!

"Give Brady His Due, Already!!"

I can't understand those who STILL won't admit that there's something incredibly special about TOM BRADY. 

Seven Super Bowl wins, out of ten Super Bowl appearances?? Look, it's not going to save his soul, only the Blood of Jesus Christ can do that. It won't get him into Heaven, but even if you think Brady's the Devil Incarnate, well give the Devil his due as they used to say. 

Now, I'm well aware of SOME of Brady's lapses...I've written about them in this blog, by the way (check my blog of about a year-and-a-half ago). 

But that does NOT take away from his accomplishments, in my opinion!!  Look, I never used to like ALI, but when he came back to win his third World Title (see previous blog), he won me over. And LOTS of people hated George Steinbrenner, but despite his MANY flaws and failings, while he was the Principal Owner of the New York Yankees they reached the World Series 11 times and won seven titles. What's wrong with those who have the WILL to win (Ali), the DRIVE to win (Steinbrenner) and the ABILITY to win (Brady)?? For me, the fact that Brady left the Patriots and just won ANOTHER Super Bowl, in his early 40s, with a new team, is simply ASTOUNDING. (And I'm generally NOT a football fan)!!

I read that some now consider Brady the greatest athlete of all time, in ANY sport. I don't know about THAT but to say he's a cheater and THAT must account for all of his success is not simply logical. Has his cheating ever been PROVEN?? I don't think so. "But Chet, you accept that BIDEN is a cheater and he is the PRESIDENT. Why can't you admit that BRADY is a cheater?" Because Brady has TALENT and WORKS HARD.  Joe Biden is......not too good of a politician (never was), he spent most of last summer hiding in his basement, rather than campaigning and he often peters out by NOON when he's active in the morning. (Additionally, there is FAR more proof that he cheated his way into the Presidency that there is that BRADY cheated).

The victim of Biden's cheating, Donald Trump, is pictured with Brady (above). Today, the Democrats are trying to find him guilty (AGAIN) in a bogus Impeachment trial that is just as much of a sham as the first one was, maybe moreso!! He isn't even PRESIDENT any more, how can you REMOVE him?? They're insanely JEALOUS of Trump. 

And in my opinion, the reason they hate Trump is because THEY WON'T GIVE HIM HIS DUE, they can't admit that he's gifted as a leader and that he works very hard and that , 7 times out of 10, he is a verifiable WINNER. Don't be like the Democrats!! GIVE TOM BRADY HIS DUE, ALREADY and then pray for his soul....pray that that his success, his riches, and his passing glory won't keep him out of Heaven.

"Spinks"

Back when I was a fan of boxing (I'm still a BIT of a fan of WOMEN'S boxing but I'm even losing interest in THAT), I saw two huge upsets. The first was when Leon Spinks beat the great Muhammad Ali in their first fight, February 1978 (photo above). That fight helped me realize that fights AREN'T always fixed, otherwise Ali would have won. And when Ali beat Spinks in their REMATCH exactly 7 months later, to become a three time World Champion, I became an Ali / Boxing fan!! (The "Rocky" movies helped ALSO....esp. "Rocky II," in 1979).

The SECOND great upset came in 1990, ALSO in February...the greatest upset of all-time. Buster Douglas beat the then-undefeated Mike Tyson though he was a 42-1 underdog. It was "Rocky" in real life!!

Leon Spinks just died, and, of course ALI died a few years back. Both Spinks and Douglas will always be remembered for one thing....beating the champs ALI and TYSON, respectively.

Leon's brother MICHAEL Spinks is still alive and once fought TYSON...a few years before Douglas did. It didn't go so well for MICHAEL, as I recall, he was afraid to come out of his dressing room to face Iron Mike and got pummeled in about 90 seconds. (This was two years or so before BUSTER took that Aura of Invincibility away from Mike, Lol)!!

So, when I hear the name SPINKS, I will always think of LEON and that night of Feb. 15th, 1978. I will think of a brave young man who defied the odds, beat Ali, but then was decent enough to give The Champ a rematch (something TYSON was never given by DOUGLAS). The rematch, in my opinion, was a show of respect and even though Leon lost...he WON in the long run.

"The Ms. TERIOUS Death of 'MS. T.' (Cicely Tyson): No Real Mystery!!"

In a sense, the death of Cicely Tyson a week ago today is not a mystery at ALL. The Bible is clear, all of us are going to die sooner or later and God calls us EXACTLY when He says it's time.  Furthermore, it's no mystery that someone who was allowed to live 96 years on this earth WOULD eventually pass!! But there are many scratching their heads today at this "sudden" turn of events so I wanted to blog about it. (BTW, I have long referred to Ms. Tyson as "Ms. T." and I'll explain why at the END of this blog).

Here's why Ms. T.'s passing seems mysterious to many.

     1.) Her long-awaited autobiography (see above) came out last Tuesday, January 26th.

     2.) She taped two TV appearances (virtually) on the 26th and 27th to promote the book. And 

     3.) Though appearing to be in GOOD HEALTH on those virtual TV appearances, she suddenly passed away, "of natural causes," a week ago today, January 28th. One of her TV appearances was aired AFTER her passing, for the first time.

Ms. Tyson's last TV series was "How to Get Away with Murder" and I'm sure some think she WAS murdered, but I will NOT even address that theory, it's ridiculous!! Ditto for SUICIDE...it's ridiculous. But the others I've heard sound more plausible, so I'll address them LOGICALLY.

SOME SAY "MS. T." KNEW SHE WAS DYING AND THAT'S WHY SHE FINALLY WROTE HER AUTOBIOGRAPHY AT AGE 95-96. SHE HUNG ON TILL IT WAS RELEASED THEN HAD NO MORE REASON TO LIVE, SO SHE GAVE IN TO HER FATAL ILLNESS. I don't buy it!! Her book, which I've read, makes no mention of her illness and it WAS a "tell-all," after all. More than likely she had intended to write the book for years, but never had time till the lockdown from COVID began last Spring. It forced her to sit down and write because her frequent public appearances had to be cancelled. Besides, her last two TV appearances showed her in good health!!

SOME SAY SHE "DROPPED THE MIC" WHEN THE BOOK CAME OUT, SHE HAD NOTHING MORE TO SAY AND, (BECAUSE OF COVID), NOTHING MORE TO DO, SO SHE "GAVE UP." No, she had lots of plans to (virtually) PROMOTE the book in months to come and in the book, itself said she wanted to live to be 100. Cicely Tyson never gave up on anything IN her life, so she wouldn't give up on LIFE, ITSELF that way. She said her life is in GOD'S Hands....not hers.

DID SHE SEE MISPRINTS OF THE BOOK ON THE 26th (MY OWN COPY IS MISPRINTED) AND THIS BROKE HER HEART TO THE EXTENT THAT SHE LITERALLY "DIED OF EMBARASSMENT" TWO DAYS LATER?? Yes, my own copy is a misprint!! Pages 145-176 are inserted between pages 112-113!! But I've called HarperCollins (the publisher) and Amazon (where I bought it) and they say it's ONLY my copy as far as they know. So until we can prove that ALL of the books are messed up, Ms. Tyson COULDN'T have seen a misprint and thus been humiliated by one.

If we learn that ALL of the books had that 31 pages out of sequence, THEN this might seem possible.

And....

SOME ARE ASKING, DID "MS. T." GET THE COVID VACCINE LIKE HANK AARON DID BEFORE HE DIED SUDDENLY, NOT LONG AGO?? We don't know, but the question assumes that the Vaccine was AARON'S cause of death, and we don't know that for a fact. Ms. T's book does NOT indicate that she feared COVID, nor did it show that he liked getting needles of ANY kind.

So prove to me that Aaron (86) died from the vaccine and that Ms. T. (96) ever GOT a vaccine, FIRST.

Conclusion: Our society questions TOO MUCH sometimes!! Again, The Bible is clear, all of us are going to die sooner or later and God calls us EXACTLY when He says it's time. 

And I started calling her "Ms. T." when my first wife (now deceased) and I got to know Tyson at her School here in NJ from 2002-2012. (I don't know WHY I called her that, but it became a habit, Lol)!!
