"DIALOGUE DESPITE DIFFERENCES"

I’m about to say something which may be controversial, but it shouldn’t be. And I'm going to use the two new CDs I recently purchased (above) to try to make a POINT.

Here we go!! Don’t let MINOR political differences cut you off from people!! If THEY will cut YOU off, that’s a different story...but don’t shut people out just because you don’t agree with them 100% on everything.

Case in point, these two new CDs I’ve been enjoying!! The first one lists...ulp....MAXINE WATERS as a member of Merry Clayton’s “LA’s FINEST CHOIR.” As a Conservative American I have a VERY low opinion of Maxine but the CD is thoroughly Christian and of VERY high quality, I refuse to toss it, as some would have me do. If she was the MAIN singer I would not even BUY it, but “Mad Maxine” is one of many BACKGROUND voices, so she’s tolerable.

Then, regarding the SECOND disc, whoever packaged it is pretty dumb for tying BLM to the cover design but again, the CD is great and Marilyn and Billy are professing Christians. I simply refuse to “throw out” the “bath water” if the “baby” has got to go with it. The album itself (covers of Beatles songs) is NOT political, though some try to spin it that songs like “Ticket to Ride” were about Rosa Parks....a ridiculous attempt by WHITE LIBERALS to market the album. I wasn’t tricked by that but I will NOT be pressured to discard the CD, either!!

Don’t let MINOR political differences cut you off from people.!! Like New York Mayor Ed Koch used to say (I’m paraphrasing) “If you agree with 70% of what I believe, vote for me. If you agree with 100%, have your head examined.” We will never agree with with EVERYONE 100% of the time, so don’t be so quick to jettison the “70%” people!! Koch, himself was a great example of this....though a New York Liberal he showed respect for some Republicans though he disagreed with their politics. I remember him speaking at a Republican Presidential Convention once!! What we need in America today (amongst many other things) is DIALOGUE DESPITE DIFFERENCES in the political world. People need to listen...and TALK to....those they may not agree with totally. That's all I want to say today!!
