My daughter (above, with a piece of ME by her, Lol) turns 40 today!! And I want to share a brief true story about the day AFTER her birth.
My first wife, Beth, had an extreme aversion to HOSPITALS. In English, that means that she HATED 'em, Lol!! So, when Jenna was born 40 years ago this afternoon, Beth (who is now in Heaven) wanted to go home that night because to HER, Hospitals were the closest thing to Hell on earth.
So, despite my reservations and against medical advice, we took our daughter HOME that night and laid her between us on the bed. (Would I do this TODAY?? Probably not, but anyway that's what we did.) And looking back, I am GLAD, because the next morning was AMAZING.
The sunlight coming through the window awakened me and THERE WAS MY DAUGHTER, my first child, sleeping next to me...it was like a dream...a miracle!! I was enchanted just laying next to her, watching her waking up. And she's been a miracle EVER SINCE!! I'm glad she KNOWS THE LORD and I pray every day for her, her wonderful husband and THEIR baby.
Above: My daughter and me, 40 years ago tomorrow.
40 years ago tomorrow morning, I remember running down the stairs to get the newspaper that had just been delivered and seeing the headline, something about the POPE visiting our area.
I smiled and, ("Chetitor" that I am), mumbled that "Who's this guy THE POPE?? This headline should read CHET NOW HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD."
Oh yeah, in tomorrow's edition (online TODAY), I learned that our local paper paper printed my letter (see my blog for September 6th.) Click pic to enlarge...
